(wgvu) - There has been another plea in the
case of a failed Grand Rapids-based information technology company
at the center of a huge fraud investigation.
Seventy-seven-year-old Geraldine Watson pleaded guilty today in
U-S District Court to a charge of making a false statement to a
firearms dealer.
She faces up to ten years in prison.
Son Barton Watson co-founded The CyberNET Group.
Prosecutors say the now-defunct company defrauded lenders of
about 100 (m) million dollars.
Geraldine Watson had told the firearms dealer that the 12-gauge
shotgun was for herself when she bought it in November of 2004.
But prosecutors say her son shot himself with it during a police
standoff at his home as the CyberNET scandal erupted.
