(wgvu) - A GRAND RAPIDS-BASED FOOD RETAILER WILL WAS TO OPEN TODAY IN EASTERN IOWA AT THE SITE OF AN
ORGANIC BAKERY THAT CLOSED AFTER FOUR MONTHS OF OPERATION.
COMPANY OFFICIALS SAY COLE'S QUALITY FOODS WILL EVENTUALLY HAVE
60 EMPLOYEES WHEN IT IS RUNNING AT FULL CAPACITY LATER THIS YEAR.
LAST SUMMER, THE NORTH LIBERTY CITY COUNCIL AGREED TO PROVIDE A
100 THOUSAND DOLLAR FORGIVABLE LOAN TO COLE'S AS LONG AS THE
COMPANY CREATED FIFTY-NINE NEW JOBS AT AN ELEVEN-DOLLAR-TWENTY-FIVE
CENT AN HOUR STARTING WAGE. THE COMPANY ALSO AGREED TO NEARLY SEVEN
(M) MILLION DOLLARS IN CAPITAL INVESTMENTS.
