BOAT OVERTURNED

(wgvu) - A GRAND JURY HAS INDICTED THE OWNER AND
CAPTAIN OF THE TOUR BOAT THAT CAPSIZED ON LAKE GEORGE IN UPSTATE
NEW YORK.
NINETEEN OF THE 20 TOURISTS KILLED WHEN THE ETHAN ALLEN FLIPPED
OVER IN OCTOBER 2005 WERE FROM MICHIGAN.
SHORELINE CRUISES AND CAPTAIN RICHARD PARIS ARE CHARGED WITH
FAILING TO HAVE ENOUGH CREW MEMBERS ABOARD THE TOUR BOAT.
PARIS WAS THE ONLY CREW MEMBER ABOARD. HE AND 27 OTHER
PASSENGERS SURVIVED. STATE NAVIGATION LAW REQUIRED AT LEAST TWO FOR
THE 47 PASSENGERS ON BOARD.
FEDERAL INVESTIGATORS SAY THE VESSEL WAS OVERLOADED THE DAY IT
CAPSIZED.
