(wgvu) - THE C-E-O OF PHARMACEUTICAL GIANT PFIZER IS PAYING A VISIT TODAY TO AN ANN ARBOR RESEARCH FACILITY THAT'S CLOSING AS PART OF THE DRUG-MAKER'S RESTRUCTURING.
THE CLOSING IS COSTING THE AREA ABOUT 2,100 JOBS.
JEFFREY KINDLER PLANS TO ENCOURAGE EMPLOYEES TO STAY WITH THE COMPANY. PFIZER SAYS IT PLANS TO TRANSFER UP TO 70% OF THE ANN ARBOR EMPLOYEES TO OTHER COMPANY
LOCATIONS.
PFIZER, THE WORLD'S LARGEST DRUG MAKER, ANNOUNCED EARLIER THIS MONTH IT
PLANNED TO SHUT DOWN FACILITIES IN ANN ARBOR, KALAMAZOO AND SUBURBAN DETROIT.
THE CLOSINGS WILL AFFECT ABOUT 2,400 D MICHIGAN JOBS BY THE END OF 2008.
