PUBLIC SCHOOLS WILL MEET ITS ENROLLMENT GOALS FOR THE YEAR.
THAT MEANS SOME EMPLOYEES WILL BE DUE LUMP SUM BONUSES UNDER A
DISTRICT CONTRACT.
ENROLLMENT INCENTIVES HAVE DRAWN ATTENTION STATEWIDE AS
DISTRICTS STRUGGLE TO MAINTAIN STUDENT NUMBERS.
IF THE GRAND RAPIDS DISTRICT LOSES LESS THAN 800 MOST EMPLOYEES RECEIVE AT LEAST .25% RAISES.
MANY DISTRICTS ARE WEIGHING SIMILAR PROPOSALS -- SCHOOL FUNDING
IN MICHIGAN IS BASED ON ENROLLMENT.
AN EXTRA 100 STUDENTS RESULTS IN ABOUT
$700,000 MORE STATE AID FOR THE GRAND RAPIDS
DISTRICT.
THE STATE IS SCHEDULED TO VERIFY ENROLLMENT NUMBERS IN ABOUT A
MONTH.
