FORD MAY OFFER PERFORMANCE BONUSES TO SOME FORD MIGHT OFFER PERFORMANCE BONUSES TO
WHITE-COLLAR WORKERS IN AN EFFORT TO KEEP THEM WITH THE COMPANY TO
HELP LEAD ITS RESTRUCTURING.
FORD C-E-O ALAN MULALLY SAYS A DECISION ON WHETHER TO HAND OUT
BONUSES WON'T COME FOR ANOTHER TWO MONTHS OR SO.
IF APPROVED, THE BONUSES WOULD COME AS FORD HEADS INTO CONTRACT
TALKS WITH THE U-A-W UNION.
MULALLY HAS SAID THAT FORD WOULD ASK THE UNION FOR CONCESSIONS.
THE U-A-W WOULDN'T COMMENT ON THE PROSPECT OF BONUSES, BUT
PRESIDENT RON GETTELFINGER HAS BEEN CRITICAL OF EXECUTIVE BONUSES
IN THE PAST.
FORD HAS REPORTED A RECORD LOSS OF NEARLY $13 BILLION DOLLARS
FOR 2006.
THE STRUGGLING AUTOMAKER HAS SAID IT WOULD LOSE MONEY UNTIL
SOMETIME IN 2009.
