CONGRESS-GLOBAL WARMING
(2007-01-25)
(wgvu) - U-S HOUSE SPEAKER NANCY PELOSI AND VETERAN
MICHIGAN CONGRESSMAN JOHN DINGELL PUT ASIDE DIFFERENCES AND
REPLACED THEM WITH SMILES AS THEY TOURED THE WASHINGTON AUTO SHOW.
DINGELL IS A DEARBORN DEMOCRAT AND CHAIRMAN OF THE HOUSE ENERGY
AND COMMERCE COMMITTEE.
HE WAS ANGRY THAT PELOSI BYPASSED HIM AND HIS COMMITTEE TO
CREATE A PANEL ON GLOBAL WARMING. THE SPEAKER SAYS THE COMMITTEE
PLANS TO PRODUCE A BILL BY INDEPENDENCE DAY.
DINGELL SAID LAST WEEK THE EFFORT WOULD CREATE WHAT HE CALLED
"ENTHUSIASTIC AMATEURS" WHO WILL MAKE COMMITMENTS THAT WILL BE
HARD TO HONOR.
HE INVITED PELOSI TO THE SHOW AND YESTERDAY THEY LOOKED AT
ALTERNATIVE VEHICLES BUILT BY DETROIT AUTOMAKERS.
