THOUSANDS FILE PAST FORD'S CASKET
(2007-01-03)
(wgvu) - A steady stream of mourners have
lined up through the night and into the morning to say a final
goodbye President Gerald Ford.
They walked from the DeVos Place convention center across a
bridge over the Grand River to the Ford museum, where they filed
past the 38th president's flag-draped casket.
It took hours for people to make their way through the line last
night. The wait had dropped to a half-hour in the 30-degree
temperatures this morning.
The solemn gathering caps a final welcome home from admirers.
Former Defense chief Donald Rumsfeld will deliver a eulogy at
Ford's private funeral today.
