Former Teacher On Trial
(2008-07-23)
(wfsu) - Gil Raimundo Cancel-Comas was arrested early last year after he drove to the girl's home in Texas and brought her back to Tallahassee. The Leon County Sheriffs Department says the two had been in touch over the Net for about a year. Cancel-Comas is being tried on charges of lewd or lascivious conduct, interference with child custody and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He's pleaded not guilty. At the time of his arrest, Cancel-Comas was tutoring high school students with Florida State University's Upward Bound Program. Before that, he'd been a math teacher at Chiles High School.
