Space Coast Jazz Society Presents - Kenny Clarke B-3 Jazz Quartet
B-3 organist Kenny Clarke, 2-time winner of Brevard Live’s music award for “Favorite Keyboardist,” will headline the Space Coast Jazz Society’s concert from 2 to 4:30 PM Sunday Aug. 10 at the Cocoa Beach Country Club.
Clarke's quartet includes Maurice Frank on vocals, Paul Polanski on saxophone and Jeff LoForte on drums. They will perform a unique sound known as “hard bop” and popularized by Wes Montgomery and Jimmy Smith in the 50s and 60s Clarke adores the B-3 organ and plays it for several groups in addition to his own.
‘I play keys on occasion for Blind Pig recording artist Bill Morganfield, who is Muddy Waters’ son and is keeping alive the family tradition of the great Delta/Chicago blues.”
After many years of living in Melbourne, Clarke has moved to Vero Beach, where he plays at several jazz venues. He also has regular gigs in Brevard and occasionally performs in Europe.
The Aug. 10 concert will be his second for the SCJS, where he will be performing “straight-ahead jazz.”
