It's a five minute fanfare that hearkens back to both Copland and the 1940s big bands Adams heard growing up and is full of vibrant joy. Cellist Paul Fleury joins the SCSO to present Sir Edward Elgarís powerful Cello Concerto. The heartfelt Cello Concerto was Elgar's final great work. He poured into it all the passionate sorrow he felt at World War I's destruction of Europe's people and their ideals.
