Noon @ the 'Spoon POV is a 30 minute program that brings scholars and artists from diverse fields to WAM to share their points-of-view on a particular exhibition or work of art.
Dr. Anjail Rashida Ahmad is author of two collections of poetry: the color of memory and necessary kindling, which was a finalist in the Binghamton University Milt Kessler book competition. On October 22, join Dr. Ahmad as she shares several of her poems in WAM's McDowell Gallery surrounded by the sculptures and prints of artist Willie Cole. A question and answer period with the author follows.
Dr. Ahmad is Associate Professor and Director of the Creative Writing Program at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro. As a poet who experiences blindness, Ahmad explores the dusky realms of place, belonging and identity along the margins where sight becomes tentative and vision extends into possibilities. Please join us for this special point-of-view.
