The National Gallery, London, presents a major exhibition on one of the greatest artists of the Dutch Golden Age: Johannes Vermeer, paint of Girl with a Pearl Earring. The National Gallery has chosen to focus on his art in relation to music.
This event film goes beyond the exhibition to tell the entire story of Vermeer's life in and, in doing so, will show in detail many of the artist's great works. The program will suit the wide audience who adore Vermeer's work and who want to both see it in detail and to learn more about this mysterious, fascinating man.
After the Vermeer screening please join for a discussion on the influence of Dutch painters on the American still life genre moderated by Elizabeth Chew (Betsy Babcock Director of the Curatorial and Educational Division of Reynolda House Museum of American Art), and John Hutton (Professor of Art at Salem College).
