Director of the Bo Bartlett Center at Columbus State University (and recently director of curatorial at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art), David Houston will discuss collecting as an enduring human trait that has experienced many transformations over time, and continues to motivate todayfs art world. He will focus on the world of art and art collecting of the past 20 years, which has witnessed an accelerating shift from art as a public trust to art as a private commodity. Houston will address how the extremities of this trend alter the fundamental, intangible values of art.
