Without a Ride

(wfcr) - Even before hurricane Katrina hit, the country was reeling from high gas prices and moaning about the cost of keeping a car. But one reality the hurricane brought home was the cost of not having a car at all. In Louisiana, that cost -- for thousands of poor residents -- was getting stranded in a doomed city, unable to find any room in a vehicle or a seat on mass transportation. But what about the daily reality for low-income communities in our region?
