UMASS Researchers say It's Possible to Hack into Implanted Medical Devices
(wfcr) - Wireless devices like cell phones and blackberries are everywhere these days. There are even wireless medical devices implanted in people. These devices can monitor vital signs or even shock an erratically beating heart back into a regular rhythm. Doctors like these wireless devices because they can make it easier to monitor patients and keep records. But a new study from UMASS Amherst warns that the devices may be vulnerable to hackers, and that could raise privacy and safety concerns.
