Springfield Residents Want to Keep Renaissance School Intact
(2008-01-18)
(wfcr) - Students and parents from the Renaissance School in Springfield, Massachusetts urged the city's Finance Control Board Thursday to help keep their campus intact. The "magnet" school is currently a combined middle and high school. But as school officials looks at ways to place all its students throughout the city , one proposal is to divide the renaissance school into two. Several speakers - including a half dozen with picket signs - told the Control Board that splitting the campus would ruin the school's atmosphere, which stresses community service. Jesse Letterman is a 7th grader at the Renaissance School.

Later in the meeting, Mayor Dominic Sarno said he has spoken with members of the school committee and is hoping to work out a solution so the renaissance school can remain intact.
