Commission to End Homlessness will Present Plan by Years End
(wfcr) - By December 30th, "The Massachusetts Commission to End Homelessness" is expected to recommend a state wide plan to the Patrick administration, including a 5 year budget proposal. The 30-member commission, which has been meeting since July, is made up of state and local officials, including Holyoke Mayor Michael Sullivan. He says the commission has been working on regional solutions to providing housing and end homelessness, and that relocating homeless people is not a solution.

Governor Patrick announced this weekend the re-formation of a smaller group, "The Council on Homelessness and Housing." The goal of the council, made up of senior level government appointees, is to bring officials and agencies together to make it easier for to implement recommendations from the commission. Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray serves on the commission and the council, which he will chair.
