Ladybugs are Back in the Region
(2007-10-26)
(wfcr) - After a drop-off in number over the past few years, ladybugs are making a forceful comeback in the region, much to the annoyance of many homeowners. Millions of the Asian ladybird beetles, those pumpkin-colored bugs with black spots, can be seen crawling on and inside area homes. UMass entomologist Bob Childs says the current infestation is due partly to the weather.

This is also the time of year when the bugs begin looking for places to live while they are dormant for the winter. But Childs says its not beneficial for the ladybugs to be inside homes.
