Patrick Remains Confident About Casino Revenues
(2007-10-26)
(wfcr) - Governor Deval Patrick says a report that casts doubt on his casino revenue projections doesn't taken into account money that would come from hotels, showrooms and golf courses. A review by a Beacon Hill group says Patrick's numbers are unrealistic and don't account for the expansion of gambling in other states. Patrick estimates three resort casinos would generate at least $400 million in annual tax revenue, while the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation puts the number at 308 million dollars. Patrick says he hasn't seen the report yet.

Patrick says he believes the bidding for three licenses could initially raise up to $900 million . During a stop in Somerset today, the governor said he believes his legislation that would establish three casinos across the state will ultimately succeed. Patrick's plan relies on 15,000 slot machines producing $300 per day in revenue
