Men who Cook for Change
(wfcr) - Does a Governor's chicken dish beat out a state Senator's pasta sauce? A crowd of notable Massachusetts men provided recipes for a culinary event Sunday in Holyoke intended to combat stereotypes about masculinity in the kitchen. Among the participants in "Men who Cook," were Governor Deval Patrick, state Senator Stanley Rosenberg of Amherst, and local artist Josh Simpson. Ralph Hexter, the President of Hampshire College, contributed his recipe for "grasshopper pie," a frozen dessert involving crushed Oreo cookies, creme de mint and marshmallow fluff. Hexter, who's been cooking since high school, thinks its important to demonstrate that men can be just as skilled in the so-called "domestic arts" as women.

The event was part of the 25th anniversary celebration of the "Men's Resource Center for Change."
