Episcopalian Reverend Supports Church Congress' Decisions
(2007-09-27)
(wfcr) - The Episcopal Bishops of the United States wrapped up 6 days of meetings in New Orleans Tuesday, pledging to "exercise restraint" by not approving more gay Bishops. The Episcopal church, which has nearly 2.5 million members, is the U-S province of the global Anglican communion. The Episcopal Bishops were facing a September 30th deadline from Anglican leaders to pledge not to consecrate another gay Bishop. Gene Robinson, an openly gay priest, was approved as bishop of New Hampshire 4 years ago. The Anglican leaders had also set a Sunday deadline for the Americans to pledge not to approve an official prayer service for same-gender couples. Episcopal bishops agreed to that.
