Leonard Baskin's Images of Women
(wfcr) - Smith College is hosting an exhibit of one of Northampton's most famous home-grown artists -- painter, printmaker, and sculptor Leonard Baskin, who died in 2000. Baskin was known for drawings of suffering human figures, paintings of half-birds, half-men, and artistic commissions for public memorials -- including a sculpture for the Holocaust Museum in Michigan. That piece is among dozens on display in the exhibit: "Medea and her Sisters: Leonard Baskin's Images of Women." WFCR's Karen Brown recently toured the show with Lisa Baskin -- the artist's widow.
