Massachusetts' Governer Weighs In On Auto Insurance Plan
(2007-07-17)
(wfcr) - Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick says a new plan to increase competition in the state's auto insurance market strikes a balance between free market and government control. State Insurance Commissioner Nonnie Burnes announced monday that automobile insurance companies would be allowed to set their own rates. She said the Division of Insurance will closely supervise what happens to make sure there isn't a repeat of the state's last experiment with deregulation in 1977, when rates for urban drivers skyrocketed.
