Pianist Leon Fleisher Comes to Springfield
(2007-04-27)
(wfcr) - Leon Fleisher gave his first public recital at age 8. He made his debut in New York in 1944 at age 16. For the first part of his life he performed on stages around the world... then in his mid 30s he lost the use of his right hand. He went on to distinguish himself as a conductor and a teacher. Miraculously in the past 10 years or so, Fleisher began treatments that have allowed him to play with both hands again. While in transit, Leon Fleisher had a moment to catch up with WFCR's John Montanari.
