Price of Milk Confounds New England's Dairy Farmers
(2006-05-22)
(wfcr) - The price that dairy farmers in New England have been getting for their milk has been sliding down slowly in recent months. That's hard news, since the farmers were already struggling with rising costs and a national increase in milk production. Bob Wellington is an economist with Agri-Mark, the milk-marketing cooperative that represents 1,500 dairy farms in New England and New York. He told WFCR's Bob Paquette that farmers today are getting less than $1.10 a gallon for milk, the same amount they were getting back in 1979. © Copyright 2017, wfcr
