Son reacts to new revelations about Julius and Ethel Rosenberg
(2008-09-23)
(wfcr) - This month, the US government released secret grand jury testimony in the case of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. They were executed in 1953 after being convicted of passing secrets about the atomic bomb to the Soviet Union. The documents reveal inconsistencies in the evidence given against Ethel Rosenberg, centering on the contention that she had typed up notes to be given to the Soviets. Also this month, shortly after the documents were made public, a Rosenberg co-defendant -- Morton Sobell-- acknowledged to the New York Times that he had, indeed, been a spy, and so had Julius Rosenberg. The Rosenbergs sons -- Robert and Michael Meerepol-- live in western Massachusetts. For decades they fought to clear their parents names. But Michael Meerepol told WFCR's Tina Antolini that the latest developments are an evolution in the case of his parents, not a revolution. © Copyright 2017, wfcr
