Rell Vetoes State Bonding Package
(2007-10-09)
(wfcr) - Connecticut Senate President Don Williams says Democratic leaders will try as quickly as possible to come up with a new state bonding package. This after Republican Governor Jodi Rell over the weekend vetoed the $3.2 billion bill. House Speaker Jim Amann says he has the votes to override Rell's veto, but Democrats are one vote short in the Senate. Rell claims the Democratic bonding bill, which borrows money to fund school construction, transportation, clean water and other infrastructure projects, is loaded with what she calls pork barrel spending in lawmakers' home districts. Senate President Williams says that's not true.

Williams says Democrats will be putting together a new state bonding package they hope Governor Rell will sign.
