American Idol Hopefuls Flock to Georgia Dome
17-year old Chase Fowler and his mother drove from Blacksburg, South Carolina, to register for an audition.
(WABE) - Yesterday, thousands of hopefuls lined up outside the Georgia Dome to register to audition for the popular TV show American Idol.

By 6am, the line snaked around two full sides of the Dome some of the ones at the front had been waiting since Friday. Optimism reigned as with 17-year old Chase Fowler from Blacksburg, South Carolina:

FOWLER: I'm really just looking for the opportunity to get myself out there. I think I've got the heart and the determination to really do this, so I'm excited. (Sings)

They came from all over the U.S. 21-year old Emily Roe came from as far away as Corning, New York.

Auditions take place on Tuesday.
