Westfield Mayor Appointed New Position at the State Level
(wfcr) - Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick announced eleven new appointments Wednesday as part of a sweeping overhaul of state government. They include Westfield Mayor Richard Sullivan, who will become the new commissioner of the department of conservation and recreation, replacing Steven Burrington. Sullivan, who is 48, has been Westfield's mayor since 1994. He says he's looking forward to joining the governor's team.

Sullivan takes office on June 11th. The president of the Westfield City Council will take over as interim mayor for the remainder of Sullivan's term, which ends later this year. Other Patrick administration appointments include Angelo Mcclain, who replaces Harry Spence, the embattled commissioner of the Department of Social Services. Mcclain is a former DSS worker who currently works for a New Jersey-based health care company.
