Joe Biden interview
(2007-04-26)
(pri) - He's Delaware's longest serving Democratic Senator, and he has his sights set on the White House -- he talks to Tavis Smiley about race relations and how the African American vote put him into the Senate.

Listen to interview

Biden currently seeks the Democratic nomination for president in 2008. Tavis asks Biden about the fallout from his controversial remark about Senator Barack Obama: "I mean, you've got the first sort of mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a story-book, man."

The Senator says his constituency knows him, and that, in Delaware, the African American community supports him. He says he gets 98 percent of the black vote when he runs, and he's in the Senate because of the African American vote in Delaware.
