The Medical Consequences of War
A Typical Forward Surgical Team (FST) operating room in a "drash" tent with two portable tables.
(wfcr) - In war, health consequences go beyond the battlefield. That's the topic of a discussion this weekend in Springfield. Physicians for Social Responsibility, the Veterans Education Project, and Baystate Medical Center will hold a conference on the medical consequences of the war in Iraq. Dr. Barry Levy of Tufts University School of Medicine has written extensively about the impact of war on public health. As part of our ongoing series about the effects of war, Levy told WFCR's Bob Paquette -- advances in medical and surgical techniques on the front line have meant many injured american soldiers have been saved.

Information about the conference is available by emailing, or calling (413) 253-4947.
