Md. Civil Rights Office Probes Dunbar Team's Claim
Allegany County school officials have denied the claims made by Dunbar High School coach Craig Jeffries, who says he removed his team from the game in the third quarter to prevent violence.
Office of Civil Rights Director Carl Snowden says he's not surprised by Dunbar's claims after a dispute at Fort Hill last winter regarding displays of Confederate flags on school grounds.
The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association is also investigating the allegations.
The football coach for Washington's McKinley High School, Cornell Simms, says they're considering canceling an Oct. 3 game at Fort Hill, but he says he'll make a decision once all the facts are in.
