Man faces life sentence in woman's burning death
Assistant Richmond Commonwealth's Attorney Julie McConnell says Stacey Carter entered an Alford plea Thursday, not admitting guilt but acknowledging prosecutors had enough evidence to convict him.
Authorities say Carter doused Angela Squire with gasoline and set her on fire on New Year's Eve after she broke up with him.
Squire, a 33-year-old nurse and mother of four, suffered third-degree burns and died nine days after the attack.
Carter is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 6.
