Vehicle fee to rise in October
(2008-09-11)
(wesm) - The cost to register a vehicle in the state of Delaware goes up next month.

Documentation fees will increase by 50 cents for every $100 of purchase price, to 3.75 percent.

The Department of Transportation says the higher fees will allow the department to maintain the state's existing infrastructure, and support growth.

The hike is part of a package of increases passed by the General Assembly to build the Transportation Trust Fund.

The last increase in vehicle documentation fees came in 1993.
