(wesm) - The U.S. Department of Education has named two Delaware schools among the 320 schools honored as national Blue Ribbon Schools.

Sussex Technical High School near Georgetown and East Millsboro Elementary School were recognized for student progress in academic achievement. The award salutes public and private schools that have at least 40% of students from disadvantaged backgrounds and show dramatic gains.

Sussex Tech was previously named a Blue Ribbon School in 1996, making it the first Delaware high school to receive the honor twice. 55 high schools were among the national honorees this year.
