Trial begins in Princess Anne homicide
(2008-09-09)
(wesm) - What is expected to be a three-day bench trial has begun in Somerset County for one of four men charged in a March homicide in Princess Anne.

Twenty-five-year-old Gregory Tilghman is one of four men charged in the robbery and fatal shooting of 21-year-old Stephen Thomas.

Thomas' grandfather William Whitelock testified Monday he had not heard from his grandson so he went to his apartment in the 1200 block of Wink Lane to check on him. He said he found Thomas face down on the floor of a ransacked bedroom. Thomas had recently received a $21,000 inheritance.

Prosecutors believe Tilghman and his three co-defendants robbed and killed Thomas for his drugs and money. Defense attorney Scott Collins told the court there was no forensic evidence against his client.
