Storm causes power outages in Virginia
(2008-09-07)
(wesm) - Thousands lost power as Tropical Storm Hanna moved through Virginia but many had their electricity back within a few hours.

Dominion Virginia Power said about 111,000 customers in Virginia and eastern North Carolina lost power during the storm and more than 67,000 had service restored by midday. That left more than 44,000 still without power on Saturday afternoon.

The utility said most of the outages were caused by falling trees and tree limbs.
