Hanna cuts power to 43,000 across Mid-Atlantic
(2008-09-07)
(wesm) - Tropical Storm Hanna has left about 43,000 homes and business temporarily without power in Maryland, Delaware, D.C. and Northern Virginia.

About half the outages are in BG&E's territory in central Maryland, including Baltimore city and Baltimore County.

Delmarva has nearly 9,000 customers out, including large numbers in New Castle County, Delaware, and the Maryland counties of Cecil and Wicomico. Delaware Electric Cooperative says about 600 of its customers are without power.

Pepco reports 6,900 outages, concentrated mostly in Montgomery County.

Dominion Power is working to restore electricity to about 5,100 customers in northern Virginia.

And Allegheny Power says about 500 of its customers are without juice, mostly in Frederick County.
