Maryland to examine bridge inspection program
The peer review group will study other inspection programs around the nation to look for ways to improve.
Transportation Secretary John Porcari will select members of the group.
Panel members will be chosen in September, and findings and recommendations will be due early next year.
Porcari says the Maryland Transportation Authority's inspection program meets or significantly exceeds industry standards. But he says it's important to re-examine procedures and look for ways to improve.
