Former Md. legislator pleads guilty
(2008-09-05)
(wesm) - Federal prosecutors are seeking a sentence of at least three years in prison for a former state legislator who pleaded guilty to a child pornography charge.

Republican Robert McKee of Washington County pleaded guilty Friday in Baltimore. He and his lawyer declined to comment.

Sheriff's deputies, acting on a tip, raided his home nearly seven months ago and seized computers and other items. McKee resigned from House of Delegates after the investigation was made public.

He also resigned as executive director of the local Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

In addition to a sentence of between 37 and 41 months, prosecutors want a judge to order that McKee be on supervised release for the rest of his life. He will be sentenced Nov. 21.

As a condition of his plea, McKee must register as a sex offender.
