Dover man arrested in bat attack and arson near Smyrna
(2005-07-22)
(wesm) - State police say they've arrested a Dover man in
Wednesday's attempted murder and arson near Smyrna.
Twenty-year-old Dayton Jackson is charged with seven counts of
attempted murder and other offenses. He's also wanted by the state
Fire Marshal's office for arson and conspiracy.
The attack happened in the early morning hours at a home in the
two-thousand block of Woodland Beach Road. Police say three men
forced their way inside and attacked two men with baseball bats.
After a fire was set, five other people escaped from the home.
Police say Jackson became a suspect after they learned he'd been
involved in a drug dispute with the victims earlier in the week.
