Shorebirds shutout for second straight night, 6-0

(wesm) - For the second straight night at Perdue Stadium, the Shorebirds went without a run as the Captains took the series finale 6-0. The Shorebirds have loss four in a row and six of their last seven.

The Captains plated the first run of the game in the third inning. Chris Nash led off with a double to left field. Adam White then doubled to left-center field to give the Captains a 1-0 lead. In the fourth, the Captains added another run on a Chris Nash ground out that scored Nate Recknagel.

In the fifth, Walter Diaz led off with a triple to the right field corner. Adam White then doubled down the left field line to plate Diaz. White advanced to third on a single by Karexon Sanchez. He then scored on an RBI ground out to second to make it 4-0.

The Captains put the game out of reach in the eighth. Karexon Sanchez hit a two run triple to left-center to score both Mike Valadez and Adam White.

The Shorebirds offense was held to just eight hits in two games against the Captains.

The Shorebirds will square off with the Hagerstown Suns in a doubleheader on Friday at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. LHP Cole McCurry will make the start for Delmarva against Washinton Nationals pitcher Matt Chico, who is rehabbing with the Hagerstown Suns.
