Stedman Graham addresses student leaders at UMES
(2009-05-27)
(wesm) - The New York Times bestselling author, educator and businessman Stedman Graham addressed a group of over 200 student leaders from more than 25 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and interested members of the community yesterday at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Graham is the chairman and CEO of S. Graham and Associates, a management and marketing consulting company specializing in corporate and educational markets. He presents training on the topics of maximizing leadership, achieving success, growing a business, embracing diversity, achieving optimal health and branding on the personal and professional levels.

He is also the author of ten books, including two New York Times bestsellers, and has appeared on a number of TV news programs.

According to The Daily Times, Graham noted that he wouldn't settle on being Oprah Winfrey's boyfriend, but rather prefers to use motivational talks to encourage youth and adults alike about directing their talents, skills and inner energy to guide their own destiny, rather than leaving their fate to someone else.

The speaking engagement was part of the National Association of Student Affairs Professionals Student Leadership Institute being held at UMES through June 1st.

The program trains newly elected HBCU student leaders to be effective in their roles on their prospective campuses.
