Winter Blues Jam Returns to Snow Hill
Winter Blues Jam Returns to Snow Hill Blues guitarist Chris English returns to Snow Hill for the Second Annual Winter Blues Jam.
SNOW HILL, MD: Need something to help fight off the blues during the next few weeks of winter? Look no further than Snow Hill’s second annual Winter Blues Jam on February 7th. Last year's sell out event, featuring local blues artists, chased away all hints of the winter blues and served as a successful fund raising event for the town.

This year's Winter Blues Jam promises to be no different. The Old Firehouse in Snow Hill will serve as the backdrop for The Winter Blues Jam 2009 on Saturday, February 7 at 7 pm until 11pm. Musical entertainment for the evening will include The Mood Swingers, Chris English, and Angel and Margot Resto, and Burley Strand from Mr. B. & The Boys.

The Mood Swingers play a variety of music from classic rock, country rock, and reggae to blues. Their leader Mike Armstrong is often considered one of the finest guitarists and singers in Delmarva. Armstrong has been performing on stages around Ocean City since the early 80's. The Mood Swingers regularly play at Delmarva venues such as The Globe in Berlin, BJ's on the Water in Ocean City, and at The Palette in Snow Hill..

Chris English of Brother Lowdown primarily performs as a solo act, playing traditional and acoustic blues. He has an authentic style of playing. Over the years he has been true to his art learning the subtleties that make each blues special. Delta style is his forte, singing, playing guitar and harp, stamping out the time on an old wooden coca cola crate, creating the subtle polyrhythms and powerful vocals that comprise this elusive form.

Rounding out the evening will be Snow Hill's own Margot and Angel Resto. Margot, thought to be the finest blues singer in the area will be accompanied on guitar and bass by her husband Angel, known for his unorthodox approach to guitar and his strong bass presence. They will perform an acoustic set of eclectic and traditional blues and soul, and will join with the guys from Mr. B. and the Boys for a full band sound. The Restos welcome Burley Strand of Mr. B and the Boys and his drummer Robert Buckner.

To close the show there will be a collective jam session with all the entertainers of the evening.

Tommy Mason's popular barbecue chicken and ribs will be available for sale. The Snow Hill Area Chamber of Commerce will provide a cash bar of beer and wine with all proceeds going to the town's 4th of July fireworks display.

Be sure to participate in the 50-50 raffle held the night of the event. An arm's length of tickets is only $10.

Commemorative T-Shirts will be on sale the year featuring the 2009 event logo printed on the back of black t-shirts. Various styles and sizes are available. Orders will be taken through January 23rd at www.sharpworks.org. Pick up shirts at the firehouse during the event. Shirts will be sold through advance sales only.

Tickets for the Winter Blues Jam are $20 per person. Go to www.sharpworks.org to use PayPal for advanced tickets. Pick up tickets at the Will Call table the night of the blues jam.
