A maintenance crew climbs WESM's radio tower to begin work

Maintenance on the transmitter and tower began on February 4, 2010 with the expectation of having WESM back to normal operating status. However, due to unforeseen circumstances and impending weather conditions, work on the equipment had to be halted.
At this time, WESM's signal strength, which normally operates somewhere between 45,000 and 50,000 watts, is at a fraction of its regular power—about 2 percent.
Many listeners will notice a much weaker reception over the air. However, people will still be able to tune in via WESM's website (wesm913.org) in the interim.
WESM apologizes and assures its listeners that it is diligently working to rectify this situation with the expectation of having everything back in order within the week.
