The PA Browncoats and Geek Pittsburgh will present Pittsburgh's 9th annual Can't Stop the Serenity charity screening on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the historic Hollywood Theater on Potomac Avenue in Dormont, PA. The doors will open at 5PM for an evening featuring games, raffles and a showing of the science-fiction film "Serenity" on the big screen at 7PM. This year there will also be a special “Browncoat music and trivia mixer” at Fredo's Market Deli (just down the street from the Hollywood) from 3-5PM, where people can purchase delicious food, mingle, play "Firefly" and "Serenity" team trivia to win prizes and hear a great acoustic performance from singer/songwriter Sean Faust. And it’s all for the benefit of Equality Now, Joss Whedon’s charity of choice, which fights for the human rights of women around the world.
Admission to both the mixer and the main event is absolutely free, but those who attend will need a ticket to see the movie, which can be obtained at the box office at the Hollywood Theater in exchange for a minimum donation of $8 to Equality Now.
