Several area choirs will join forces to celebrate the ideals of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with the goal of blurring the geographic, demographic, and economic lines separating urban and suburban Pittsburgh. Participating Choirs include The Pittsburgh Gospel Choir, Franklin Regional High School Choirs, McKeesport Area High School Choir, Norwin High School Choir, Wilkinsburg High School Choir, and singers from the Greater Pittsburgh Unitarian Universalist Churches. The concerts will benefit the Food Banks of Greater Pittsburgh and of Westmoreland County.
In addition to the Mass Choir, Let Freedom Sing will feature original oratory performed by nationally recognized performance artist Vanessa German and The Pittsburgh Gospel Choir conducted by The Rev. Dr. Herbert V.R.P Jones. Jim Donovan (formerly of Rusted Root) and the St. Francis World Drumming Ensemble will perform at the Monday evening concert.
There is no charge for Admission, donations will be accepted at the door and will benefit the Food Bank of Greater Pittsburgh and the Westmoreland County Food Bank.
