| This news magazine provides national newscasts at the top and bottom of each hour along with commentary and features from such NPR luminaries as Nina Totenberg and Cokie Roberts as well as sports commentary, poetry from cowboy/poet Baxter Black, and other features on timely issues and events from world politics to small town life and everything in between. Morning Edition is a two hour program; WEMU rolls the broadcast over at 7:00 am Monday through Friday. WEMU's broadcast of Morning Edition is hosted locally by David Fair who anchors six local news broadcasts during the program at 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, and 8:30. Fair also conducts interviews with local newsmakers and produces features on significant local issues that air periodically throughout the year. Two local weekly features are "Issues of the Environment at 8:20 am Wednesdays, and "Cinema Chat," co-hosted by Russ Collins, Executive Director of the Michigan Theater at 7:40 am Thursdays. There are also seven Metro Traffic reports that air at 5:50, 6:20, 6:50, 7:20, 7:50, 8:20, and 8:50 each day.
