Our choices this morning included two selections from "Money Jungle: Provocative In Blue" by drummer Terri Lyne Carrington. She teams up with bassist Christian McBride and pianist Gerald Clayton to pay homage to the original "Money Jungle" recording by Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus and Max Roach. She and special guests such as Lizz Wright, Herbie Hancock and Clark Terry bring a definite 2013 feel to the music while maintaining the original improvisational feel of the 1963 jazz masterpiece. We also included a selection from the original Capitol date with the three jazz giants for contrast and context. Blues from Little Joe McLerran and Susan Tedeschi provided further contrast to the jazz. Again, thank you for listening to WEMU today.
